In order to facilitate international transactions, the European Union has introduced the EORI (Economic Operators Registration and Identification) number, a unique identifier that is necessary to carry out commercial operations with countries outside the EU. Having this number is an obligation for any company wishing to trade with EU member states.
When is an EORI number required?
- The EORI number is a number which serves to identify an entity in its dealings with customs and tax authorities

How to apply for an EORI number?
Step 1: Create an account on the PUESC
- Visit the website of the Platform for Electronic Fiscal and Customs Services (PUESC)
- Select the option to create an account.
- Fill in all the required personal information.
- Make sure you select the extended scope of authority to apply for an EORI number.
- Proceed to complete the interactive form, providing your personal details and information on the purpose of registering with PUESC, including selecting "I want to link to a company" as the purpose of registration.
- Give your consent to the processing of your data and declare that the data provided are factually and legally correct.
- Sign the form with a qualified signature or trusted profile.
Once your registration is complete, you will receive a verification code by email.
Step 2: Register the entity
- Log in to your account on PUESC.
- Select application WRP0001 "Registration of company data [SZPROT]".
- Fill in the active fields of the e-form, starting with the TIN.
- Make sure you fill in the "customs (EORI)" area.
- Give your consent and sign the document using a qualified signature, trusted profile or advanced electronic signature.
- Generate a document (application) and upload it to the system.
Step 3: Provide the documents
- If you are an authorised person, enclose the authorisation and proof of payment of stamp duty with the application.
- Deliver the documents to the Chamber of Tax Administration in Poznań by electronically attaching a power of attorney or by sending it by traditional post.
- If the entity being registered is a foreign entrepreneur, attach the original or a copy of an extract from the business register from the country in which the entity is established.
Step 4: Receive confirmation
- Check the status of your application in the "My Cases and Documents" tab of your account on PUESC.
- Once your application has been processed, you will receive confirmation of your EORI number.
How long does it take to obtain an EORI number?
An application for an EORI number usually takes a few days if everything is submitted correctly. The Office will process the application within 1 to 3 working days.
EORI number - what does it look like?
The EORI number consists of the prefix PL, which tells us the entity's country of origin, followed by the company's NIP number and finally five zeros.

EN + VAT number + add 5 zeros

How much does it cost to make?
Issuing an EORI number costs PLN 17. This is the cost of stamp duty for the power of attorney, which must be paid to the account of the Poznań City Hall.
